The Art and Science of Helping Adults learn
Continuing education steht als Name für
Weiterbildung; Recurrent Education (OECD) und Further Education sind weitere
gebräuchliche Bezeichnungen. Lifelong Education wird bei uns als
Lebensbegleitendes Lernen bzw. Lebenslanges Lernen ( nicht "Lebenslängliches
Lernen"!) übersetzt.
Manchmal wird in angloamerikanischen Ländern noch
zwischen formal adult education (=formalisiert), nonformal adult education
(=offen) und informal adult education (=ungesteuertes Lernen ausserhalb des
öffentlichen Bildungssystems) unterschieden.
Adult Learning Information and Documentation Network
UNESCO is developing a Worldwide Network of Networks of Adult
Education Documentation and Information Services - today called ALADIN.
The
explosion of demand for new skills and adult learning is generating an
increasing demand for adult education documentation and information. Access to
adult education documentation and information services, however, remains a dream
for many people, as there is very uneven access for researchers, policy-makers,
community groups, businesses, adult learners, educators and everyone engaged in
lifelong learning around the world.
The International Council
for Adult Education (ICAE)
represents the
world-wide adult education movement of non-governmental organizations working at
the grassroots, national and regional levels.
European Association for the
Education of Adults (EAEA)
The aims of the EAEA
are: to promote the development of adult education, to encourage cooperation in
adult education at a European level, to lobby international bodies so that they
adopt plans and policies which respond to the needs of the adult population in
Europe, to make it easier for non-governmental organisations to work together
and play an active role in the new international scene.
European
Society for Research on the Education of Adults (ESREA)
ESREA organizes its activities on the basis of European research
networks. These networks organise annual seminars.
European Service Network for
Adults Learning (ESNAL)
The initiative for the
ESNAL - project was taken by the European Association for the Education of
Adults. ESNAL may become a virtual research-institute, where scientists,
practical working Adult Education instructors and institutes of Adult Education
from all of Europe can exchange their experiences. Different ideas from
different countries should flow together on this Network.
